We were up and ready early; the bikes wee ready before breakfast.

 After a good English breakfast we first had to do some shopping in Chatham, to buy a map to get to Harwich. I was glad that I had looked at the route to Harwich.

We bought a handy road atlas.

We followed the NCR 1 to Gravesend and used the passenger ferry across the Thames to Tilbury.

We tried to use small roads but sometimes we had to use busy B and A roads.

In Malden we went to a B&B, enough for one day..
